Saftey

Hi, I am going to be staying on the beach at The Capes hotel with my teenage daughter in mid July. How safe is it in that area? It will just be her and I and I want to know what to be aware of. Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, any activity ideas? We don%26#39;t want to sit on the beach all day either, we can do that at home we really want to go do some fun stuff. First mother/daughter trip!! LOL

Anything can happen anywhere BUT....the resort area is very safe. The most danger you will experience will probably be crossing the street (lots of traffic). If you like to hike, First landing State Park is 5 min from the oceanfront at 64th St, lots of great trails, bald cypress trees, beach area. You can also drive 20-30 min straight shot to downtown Norfolk and check out the waterfront, take a sailboat tour of area (American Rover), see USS Wisconsin battleship, lots of great shops and wonderful restaurants. Enjoy your time in the area.

Just use common sense. Stay together, after dark keep to the lighted areas etc... There are visable police patrols, they do a good job of controlling situations.

The Virginia Aquarium is about 5 minutes south of the ocean front, very fun for all ages. Plenty of shops at the oceanfront too.

I would suggest doing some shopping at Pacific and Laskin. Ragged Robin (tons of Vera Wang items), The Lemon Tree-really cute and unusual things. Meg%26#39;s Bathing suits is there too, your daughter will love their sandels and suits.

Oh, cool, thanks for the tips.
