When is the 2008 Pony Swim

Is the Pony Swim the last full week of July or the last Wed.of July and what time do they swim?

When is the 2008 Pony Swim

The Pony Swim takes place on the last Wednesday in July, every year. This year it takes place on July 30th. They swim the ponies at slack tide, which can be from 7:00am to 1:00pm, depending on the tide.

What is slack tide!!!

Slack tide is the very short period (from 1 to 3 hours ';generally';) when the ocean is close to a balance in tidal movement. It occurs between high and low tide.

so the swim takes place that long???

The swim takes maybe 15 minutes. Waiting for it takes longer.

We%26#39;ve been twice. Here%26#39;s a link to trip reports and pictures from both trips. We were in kayaks both times.

Pretty much you should get there really early if you want to watch them swim, but be prepared to wait until the tide is right. The swim really takes about 15 minutes. Once they get on land they rest the ponies for about 30 mins or so and then they start their way to the carnival grounds.
