Hotel location question

Hi Everyone,

Our family are planning to visit VA in mid March. We are going to spend 2 days in the historic triangle and then 2 days around Norfolk and Virginia Beach. My original idea was to stay 2 nights in Williamsburg then 2 nights at VB but after looking at the map I%26#39;m wondering if it is worth staying in the middle of this area (say Norfolk) and then drive north to Williamsburg, etc and then south to VB. This would mean less packing/unpacking but I%26#39;m not sure about potential traffic hassles and the time needed to travel between these locations. We will be there mid-week.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Hotel location question

Staying in Norfolk, Newport News, or other ';mid'; place would result in alot of drive time and less time enjoying the area you are visiting, it%26#39;s only an hour to W%26#39;burg from Norfolk but rush hour traffic can be nasty especially when the tunnel is involved. Most people really like staying in W%26#39;burg and it%26#39;s convenient for seeing CW, Jamestown and even Yorktown if you are interested in venturing out just a bit (Colonial parkway is a short beautiful drive). You can stay in downtown Norfolk and see that area, USS Wisconsin, Nauticus, MacArthur Memorial, museums, waterfront, and also drive 30 min to the oceanfront at Va Beach and enjoy the boardwalk etc....or do the reverse, stay at the oceanfront and visit Norfolk. Lots to do in the area, enjoy your stay.

Hotel location question

I agree with goneagain. I%26#39;d rather move than try to stay in the middle. On paper, yes, it looks close, but in real time, you might possibly get fed up and not even want to go back the 2nd day. Well, I know that doesn%26#39;t encourage a warm-fuzzy feeling for our area, but that traffic business can be awful if you catch it at the wrong time.

Thanks guys, you confirmed my susupicion that traffic could be an issue. I think we%26#39;ll go with the original plan to stay in W%26#39;msburg 2 nights then move to VB for 2 nights.

Cheers!!
