Traffic?

Is there traffic in Charlottesville? If I%26#39;m staying with a friend in Ruckersville, how long would it take me to get there during rush hour? Is there a rush hour?

Forgive me, all we have in Northern VA is lots of traffic and rush hour that lasts forever. Need to make an appt down that way and want to be sure I time it right.

Thanks!

Traffic?

What time is your appointment, and what day of the week? My boss commutes daily from Charlottesville to Chantilly and back (yes, he is NUTS). I will ask him.

Traffic?

YES! c-ville does indeed have rush hour traffic. the problem is that c-ville roads weren%26#39;t built to handle the amount of people that currently live in the area. they have expanded route 29 quite a bit, but it still bottlenecks when you get in towards c-ville, especially near the 250 bypass and the barracks road shopping center. google maps states that it should take you only 24 mins to get from ruckersville to the downtown mall in c-ville, but with all the traffic and stoplights, i would give it closer to 45 mins. another thing to consider: people down there don%26#39;t drive quite as fast and hurried as we do up here in NOVA.

where in c-ville is your appointment?

The appt would actually be in Hollymead which is just north of 250. Would that take about 30-45 min from Ruckersville? How about if I came in from the east along I-64 from Palmyra? Since it isn%26#39;t set up yet, I wanted to see how bad the traffic would be during rush hour or regular times.

Could it be as bad as it is up here? I just hate that it takes so long to get anywhere around here.

Thanks again!

We have traffic but it%26#39;s nothing like traffic in NOVA! Ruckersville to Hollymead is only 10 miles %26amp; relatively empty (not mile after mile of malls %26amp; subdivisions %26amp; businesses), so I%26#39;d come straight down Route 29 South. There are only a couple of traffic lights. Depending on the time of day, traffic might be a little slow, but unless there%26#39;s an accident, it shouldn%26#39;t be at a standstill too often or long (usually just at the couple of traffic lights), even during rush hour. Rush hours are between 7 and 9 am, and 4 and 6 pm. I%26#39;d give yourself at least half an hour to do the 10 miles, but it probably won%26#39;t take you more than 15 minutes.

Thank you for the help everyone.

Chickenlady -- I%26#39;m glad I heard from a local who deals with this everyday. I was trying to decide if I should stay with the friend or get a hotel room so your info helps a lot. If traffic%26#39;s that light, maybe Charlottesville would be a great place to live. Guess I%26#39;ll make the trip before making that jump though.

Thanks again!

Do look around Charlottesville and you%26#39;ll love it. It%26#39;s got culture, the wonderful hospital, fantastic college, near fun, mountains, vineyards, history, etc. etc.
