Hi all -- My boyfriend and I are going to Williamsburg for Valentine%26#39;s Day weekend and staying at the Williamsburg Inn. He would love going out to eat and having a historical experience however kitschy it is, and however average the food may be. . . Can y%26#39;all tell me where to go for that and what they have to eat?
Should I make reservations now?
Thanks, I am very excited about the trip.
Tavern or Colonial type restaurants?
Definitely make your dining reservations today. That way you will get your pick of times to eat (hopefully). Check out the Williamsburg website for the dining options. You will be able to bring up the menus for both the King%26#39;s Arms Tavern and Christiana Campbell%26#39;s Tavern (noted for its seafood dishes). If you try the King%26#39;s Arms, I recommend the peanut soup and sippets. If you like rum, try the Punch Royal. Engage your servers in conversation... perhaps they will entertain you with stories behind sayings you have heard all your life: big wigs, sleep tight, tie one on. These stories can be very entertaining. If you are interested, Chowning%26#39;s Tavern has gambols (games and entertainment) after 8. Shield%26#39;s Tavern is ';cafeteria'; style eating...not for you if you want a sit-down dinner.
