Looking for a hotel/motel

Hello! I%26#39;m not sure if this is the best forum to ask this question, but here it goes....

We are planning a leisurely Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway Drive mid April on our way to TN. We are planning on going to The Monticello on our way out of the Skyline Drive/Shenandoah Park or maybe taking the 614 headed towards Charlottesville, VA.

Does anyone know which is the best route to take to visit The Monticello and most importantly, which cities are best to find a place to stay? I see that Charlottesville has many hotels, but we are looking for something not as costly and maybe more along the lines of a ';mom and pop'; place that gives us the VA hometown feel as opposed to a chain. We don%26#39;t want to get way off the beaten path and would prefer not to drive any farther east then Charlottesville and no farther west then Swannanoa, VA.

Thanks in advance!

I%26#39;m a little slow here. Where are you exiting the park? At Swift Run Gap? At Waynesboro?

Thanks, Explorer3! I%26#39;ll check it out.

Wendymath, we were hoping to drive to the end of the Skyline Drive and exit at Rockfish Gap Station, which according to my map, is near Waynesboro. I%26#39;m still considering getting off the SLD before if it works time-wise. I%26#39;m just not sure the name of the exits before Waynesboro and if it would make sense to get off the SLD and head to Charlottesville a differnt route then the I64. Sorry to be so confusing. ;-(
