Staying in a Colonial Tavern?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Williamsburg in March. We%26#39;ve been before, but not without the kids. We love it there! But this time we%26#39;d like to get more immersed in the culture of Colonial Williamsburg. We wanted to stay in one of the Colonial houses.

But for the week we are going, they only have rooms over the colonial tavern available. Will those be loud at night? In the early mornings?

If we don%26#39;t stay there, where would you suggest? It%26#39;s our 15th anniversary and we want something kind of special. We have stayed at Powhatan Plantation on our previous trips.

Thanks!

Staying in a Colonial Tavern?

The rooms in the taverns are not in CW taverns. They are rental houses for the CW foundation. The only noise might come from visitors staying in the rooms next to you. The one thing I did not like about the tavern rooms we stayed in (3, including Market Square and Brick House Taverns) was that the rooms were rather small. Perhaps when you check in you could ask if there were any cancellations for the colonial houses. If not, I am sure you will still like the atmosphere of the taverns. You will be in the center of the colonial town. When we stayed there, there was afternoon tea in the common area.
