Local experts please help

My husband and I want to book a historical house at CW for the two of us. What site do I go to? Someone had mentioned Market Kitchen Square and Mason Kitchen. Are these two historical properties? I did read about a Tavern room with queen bed availability on a Williamsburgh site today. I am interested in knowing how big one of these rooms would be and . How large is CW?

Thanks

You can check out this page on CW%26#39;s web site:

colonialwilliamsburg.com/visit/鈥tart.htm

It lists all the Colonial Houses and gives floor plans.

There are different levels of Colonial House lodging. There are the ';Tavern Rooms,'; which are the smallest. These are the only rooms you can book online.

Then there are mid-sized rooms. Generally, rather than being in the Market Square Tavern or Brick House Tavern, they are in individual houses. They may (or may not) include a fireplace.

Then there are suites. These sometimes are one floor of a house, with two rooms and a bath, and sometimes they are an entire ';kitchen'; building, with a sitting room downstairs and bedroom and bath upstairs.

Most of the historical lodging involves rooms that are smaller than typical hotel rooms. The bathrooms are also small and rather dated, but very clean.

CW is one mile long from the Capitol at one end to the College of William %26amp; Mary at the other end. It is about 2 blocks wide.

For anything other than a Tavern Room you need to call 1-800-HISTORY.

CW won%26#39;t guarantee a specific house request, but they will do their best to honor requests.

Gladdismom thankyou so much for this great info!

I%26#39;ll call the number. I know you said they don%26#39;t confirm rooms but do consider requests. In your opinion what should I request. We are 46 and 50 and I am pretty picky but I really want this historic expirience. Thanks so much.

My husband and I stayed in the Lightfoot Tenement (first floor)in October. It was a perfect fit for two people. The large bedroom contains a queen-sized canopy bed, night stands, and a dresser; the living room has a fireplace, several chairs, a desk, a TV, and a couch; outside the bathroom is a small dressing area. The small kitchen area has a refrig and stove. This house is central to CW sites. It is across from the Magazine and about a block to the Lodge. You can catch one of the CW shuttles by simply crossing the street from the front door of this house. We have also stayed in several other properties (two floors) that would suit two people if you would be interested in those: Peter Hay Kitchen, Lightfoot Kitchen, Orlando Jones Kitchen. We have stayed in the Market Square Tavern and the Brickhouse Tavern, but the rooms in those are quite small.

We%26#39;ve stayed in the Lightfoot Tenement first floor as well. It%26#39;s very roomy - living room w/fireplace, small kitchen area, spacious bedroom. We also stayed in the Masonic Kitchen. Again large living room w/fireplace, roomy bedroom. Large closet. The only downside, the bathroom is upstairs, along with another bedroom fitted out w/twin beds. I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to recommend either.

Thankyou RQT and Joey for your advice. Looking forward to visiting in May.

Sorry Zoey, I made a mistake with your name.
