Williamsburg/Charlottesville

My family of 4 will travel to VA during our spring break, April 5th - 12th. I had planned to spend three nights in Charlottesville seeing the sites and then 4 nights in Williamsburg. After reading the numerous postings about things to do in the CW area, I%26#39;m re-considering my plan. I had thought to spend 1 day in Busch Gardens but think my girls (11 and 13) would rather spend another day there than driving to civil war battlefields or in the national park near Charlottesville. SO - am thinking of cutting back on Charlottesville. I%26#39;m not a big lover of Disney-type parks, so I guess my questions are these: (1) is the first week of April generally a crowded time in the Williamsburg area? (I don%26#39;t know if local schools are out but I%26#39;m sure many other schools will be on break - and I dread hour-long lines to park, to get into the park, for rides, etc.) (2) will the weather be decent for a visit to BG at this time? (3) could we do a decent job in the park in one day? Thanks for any advice.

I%26#39;ll try to answer some of your questions:

April (Spring Break) is busy but not as crowded as summer. W%26#39;burg public schools are on break during your visit but some others in Va are not. BG is nice, and April is a good time to visit. Weather can be a bit unpredictable....sunny, cloudy, warm, cool, rainy...maybe all in the same day, just be prepared. More likely than not you%26#39;ll have decent weather. You can enjoy BG in 1 day. You mentioned maybe passing on Shenandoah Natl Park. If you have time, it%26#39;s a beautiful park, Skyline Drive is a lovely road with many places to pull over for great views. Nice hikes for all ages and abilities. Enjoy your trip to Virginia.

Thanks for your information - we%26#39;ve decided to stick with our original plan and stay in Charlottesville 3 nights. My kids can come back to Busch Gardens again some other time if they like it so much! Thanks again for your help.
