Looking for a two or three bedroom, two bathroom oceanfront condo or beach house for 4 mature adults who like to walk the beach. I know it will not be beach weather in March but we are hardy Canadians and just want to escape the snow for a week. Any suggestions - Sandbridge vs VB???
Virginia Beach in March
Sandbridge is more of a residential beach and will have many houses for rent. Virginia Beach (the Boardwalk area) is what most people think of as ';the beach,'; and here is the area with lots of hotels, restaurants, and shops and such. In March, it might make little difference which one you choose. In this part of the beach, most of the house rentals are off the oceanfront unless you go to the North End, in which case you%26#39;re not in walking distance of the restaurants if that matters.
For condos you might check vrbo.com, a1vacations.com, or Atkinson Realty which does have a website with pix of rentals.
Virginia Beach in March
Thanks Wendymath. I do know about vrbo but not the other websites -will check them out. I think we would prefer to be along the boardwalk area so we can walk to restaurants and shops. Could you recommend any hotels with suites and kitchen facilities? Are most restaurants, etc. open, even in March? I also hear that there is a very nice aquarium in VB.
sandbrige is beautiful, away from the hustle of downtown va. beach. clean beach and beautiful homes to look at. back bay wildlige refuge is great to.
Thanks kshorne56
I agree, everything I read about Sandbridge sounds like it is a very peaceful and beautiful place. I am a bit concerned re the lack of any shops for everyday groceries etc.; don%26#39;t want to spend everyday driving into VB. In March, will the shops along the VB boardwalk be open or are they strictly seasonal? We are leaning towards taking a hotel with kitchen facilities along the boardwalk.
Everytime I see your screenname, I laugh because I think it says Chia-pet. Sometime you must explain - LOL!
OK - back to business. Yes, restaurants and shops will be open. Only a few businesses are strictly seasonal. The Wave (trolley) doesn%26#39;t run until May, so you%26#39;ll have to drive to the aquarium. Definitely go - it%26#39;s a great place with lots of hands-on activities, an IMAX theater, trails (vmsm.com). Check vbhma.com - this is the hotel association website. If you click on Accommodations, you can either look at all the hotels or you can select features you desire, such as kitchens or indoor pool. Come back with specific questions about particular hotels or read reviews under the Hotels tab, and read threads in the forum by searching the name of the hotel in the search box above this screen. I am reluctant to recommend a hotel for you because as a local, I have not stayed in the hotels and so am not that familiar with the quality of accommodations and service.
VBDRO - I suppose it%26#39;s no coincidence that your screenname carries the same initials as the condos you keep promoting. You are treading dangerously close to violating TA posting guidelines. If you are indeed a representative of DRO, you should say so upfront instead of pretending to be a satisfied customer. I hope my suspicions are wrong and that you are just sooooo happy with DRO that you took their name for your own.
Agreed, and that that is so yesterday evening seven times over in quick succession even where it was not exactly on topic.
Thanks for the heads-up, Wendymath and explorer3. I thought the reply re the Dolphin property looked rather ';fishy'; - pardon the pun. Will keep on looking.
All of VirginiaBeachDro%26#39;s posts say the same thing on every thread. They are obviously NOT just a satisfied customer.
