Hotel Choice?!?!

Hi,

Planning a trip to VA im March. Narrowed my choice to 2 hotels - the Embassy Suites in Ashburn and the Springhill Suites in Herndon/Reston area. Any insight on the area surrounding the area of both hotels in terms of shopping and entertainment for a young couple, as well as if these are smart choices, considering the fact that we are leaving via Reagan rather than Dulles?

Hotel Choice?!?!

What are you planning on doing/seeing and how long are you staying? Realize that if you are staying around Dulles, and you want to shop, and go out and entertain yourself, you WILL need a car.

Ashburn/Herndon/Reston are just typical suburbs of D.C. There are hotels in that area to accommodate airport people and business travelers because that area is full of businesses. Sure you have shopping, and movie theaters, good restaurants, but it is all just your average every-day stuff that you could find anywhere.

Unless there is a specific reason you are coming to this area for something in Northern Virginia such as Great Falls or want to head over to Harper%26#39;s Ferry or you are visiting with friends or family, I suggest stay closer to D.C. where you have Metro access.

Hotel Choice?!?!

Thanks for the info....yes, I will be visiting friends in the area, and also hotel prices are lower in that area as well

If I had to pick between the two areas, I would say stay in Reston over Ashburn.

I live in Ashburn and drive by the Embassy Suites all of the time. It is located next door to several restaurants (Thai, 5 Guys Burgers, a sandwich place, a Japanese Steakhouse that%26#39;s opening soon, an Italian place and a coffee/pastry place). You can walk across the parking lot to these. You will need a car to get to anything else.

Depending on where your friends are, you would probably be better off in Reston. Either way, both are quite a ways from Reagan. The time to get there will vary greatly by what time of day you will to fly out.
