Clifton Inn or Keswick Hall

My husband and I are coming to Charlottesville for a couple of days in March. Should we stay at the Clifton Inn or Keswick Hall?

Clifton Inn or Keswick Hall

Both are very good choices. Additionally both are located within a mile or two of each other so location isn%26#39;t an issue. Keswick is much larger than the Clifton Inn with many more amenities, including tennis, golf, pool/spa, and public areas around the hotel. The rooms are both equally nice in my opinion. Keswick rooms are a bit more modern, some may have better views, the Clifton Inn rooms are quaint and a bit more country feeling. But the rooms are great in both hotels. In my opinion the dining is outstanding at either one. Again, Keswick will have more dining rooms to choose from, but each hotel will satisfy even the pickiest food critic.

If I had to choose which place to stay, I would stay at Keswick because there may be a bit more to do. One option you may try would be to stay at Keswick, but make a reservation for a night or two to eat at the Clifton Inn, literally 3-5 minute car ride away. The chef%26#39;s tasting menu at the Clifton has always been well known and talked about in Charlottesville. Additionally, if there is a huge disparity in price between the Clifton Inn or the Keswick Hall, I would choose whichever is cheaper. Just be sure to visit whichever one you don%26#39;t stay at for dinner and drinks one night.

Thanks for the information. Is there anywhere else in VIrginia that we should stay on our visit?

Virginia is a beautiful state, mountains (Shenandoah NP, Skyline Dr, Blue Ridge Parkway), rivers, and ocean (Va Beach); lots of history (Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Norfolk) and great museums, all within about 4 hours. What are your interests? scenery, hiking, history? For some ideas go to www.virginia.org and look at the trip planner and other information. Post again with your questions. Happy trails.

I%26#39;ve dined at Clifton a few times and it is top of the line. I%26#39;d expect nothing less of the accommodations.

On our second trip we were given %26#39;bonus%26#39; food. Food the chef thought we%26#39;d like to try. Was all superb!

Virginia does have a lot to offer. If you are in Charlottesville then head west on I-64 and take in some (if not all of) Skyline Drive. The wife and I did all 105 miles of it in early November as the colours changed and it was beautiful. Not sure what it%26#39;d be like in March but there are some great vistas.

If it%26#39;s not too far out of the way on your itinerary, you might check out the Inn at Little Washington, or, completely in another direction, The Homestead, in Hot Springs. Both great places to stay.

Have fun!
