I have read that the Food Lion is the best for the major shopping before coming on the Island. What about beer and wine? Coming from TN. I do not know the laws. Do you buy beer and wine in the grocery stores? And do they have a nice selection on the island?
What seafood shop is the best? I have never been crabing so I am looking forward to that.
Thanks for helpful info.
Grocery stores on the island?
Can get beer anywhere. Wine in the grocery stores too. There%26#39;s a wine shop in town that has a good selection. Liquor store near H%26amp;H Pharmacy.
I%26#39;ll let someone else comment on seafood. We have got seafood from the little stands before and that was good.
There%26#39;s a grocery store in town that probably has whatever food you need. The Food Lion is bigger and you drive past it when you turn off Rte 13 to head to Chincoteague.
Grocery stores on the island?
Hi mather, we get our beer %26amp; wine at Food Lion.
Gary Howard Seafood is on Deep Hole Road.
His %26amp; Her Seafood is not really a shop but a roadside stand on Maddox Blvd. A poster mentioned the shop next to Fresh Pride and we will try that next visit.
One thing about the grocery store in town (Fresh Pride) it has an odor about it, I can%26#39;t explain it . That%26#39;s another reason we go to Food Lion %26amp; they do have a better selection. We will run in Fresh Pride to get something we run out of during the week.
It%26#39;s time to start your countdown.
You can also shop at the Walmart in Pokmoke. Steamers is pricey but a great all you can eat seafood place. We like to buy our shrimp to cook ourself down from Food Lion at a place called Alishas.
Don%26#39;t forget to try the new bowling center it has just opened and a great place to spend your evenings.
We got fresh shucked oysters and steamed crab at the shop next to Fresh Pride. It was wonderful! We bought beer and wine at the Food Lion, liquor at the ABC (Alcholic Beverage Control) store at the same location as the Food Lion, and also visited the two area wineries, Bloxom and Chatham, and bought wine to take home at both. We really enjoy the regional wines.
The store ont he island is fine for the perishables that you may need during your stay. We purchased as much of the snack type stuff that the 4 adults and 4 kids in our group would need for the full week and brought it in. The store is limited in the selection that they have so be forewarned. I personally would have stopped at the Food Lion ont he way in but my wife being impatient thought that was too much of a hassle.... Oh Well! For the most part you can get whateve you need but if you are very brnad specific or picky you would be better off stopping at the Food Lion or Wal-Mart.
Bring all your supplies with you,the prices are very high in Chincoteague, and be sure do not shop at the Freash Pride in Chincoteague, you will have to sell your car to buy food!!!!!!!!
Surely an exaggeration! What we spent for a week%26#39;s worth of groceries wasn%26#39;t appreciably different from what we spend here in Williamsburg. We did our main shopping at the Food Lion, but bought a few things at the Fresh Pride too. I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate to do the same should we rent a house on Chincoteague in the future.
Yeah! Smells fishy to me! Doesn%26#39;t know a thing about the place, but knows where to get the best prices on food!
If you are going to misrepresent yourself-do it elsewhere. No tolerance for that here!
