williamsburg vs d.c.

You%26#39;ll get many opinions on this question...here%26#39;s mine:

DC best museums, special monuments, good food, good public transportation, tons of traffic and people, expensive, since you have been there if you think your wife would enjoy it that may be a stroke in the DC column (not my favorite place, but I%26#39;ve been there before)

Williamsburg Colonial W%26#39;burg unlike any other setting because of authentic recreation of era, bldgs restored, period dressed townspeople, taverns, plenty of hotels w/ wide range of prices, plenty restaurants, can%26#39;t count on public transportation but depending on where you stay may have a shuttle or stay close enough to walk (CW property) to most places, you will likely find a car is needed. For W%26#39;burg you can fly into Newport News (30 min), Norfolk (1 hr) or Richmond (1 hr)

You could actually do both DC %26amp; W%26#39;burg depending on how much time and energy you have. W%26#39;burg is only about 2 hr from DC. There are several very knowledgable W%26#39;burg TA members that will provide you greater details. Whatever you decide, have a great trip.

williamsburg vs d.c.

they are so uniquely different it all depends on what type of a trip you want.

No rental car needed in DC area - in W%26#39;burg a car is a necessity. yes, you can use a shuttle in W%26#39;burg, it is limited, doesn%26#39;t go everywhere and quite inconvenient to use the bus, it can be done, just not easily.

DC area has great restaurants - we have a limited selection of independents that are good, many chains.

if you do not have a car in W%26#39;burg you need to stay in the CW properties, or nearby B%26amp;B to be within walking distance.

I like both areas, for different reasons. The Dc area has museums, distinct neighborhoods, restaurants, shows, metro and a much wider variety of options.

Williamsburg area is generally limited to the period of jamestown, CW and Yorktown - all pure history. In DC you have different periods and ways of presenting them - such as the national Archives, Holoc , Air %26amp; Space, etc.

It%26#39;s hard to compare the 2 - they are not alike.

What time of year? If BG is open does that matter to you?
