Will be in williamsburg on April 19th with my 22/yo son. We will be golfing at the Golden hourseshoe in the afternoon [gold course]. We are looking for a good place to go for a steak that Sat. night. Don%26#39;t get to getaway with him much these days so would like a nice place for a steak dinner.
thanks clay

If you want a nice relaxed place, good beef, (prime rib and steak) with a steak house feel, I%26#39;d say Aberdeen Barn as a first choice. Second would be the Whaling Company. Good seafood as well as steak. On the pricier side is Opus 9. I haven%26#39;t been there yet, but have heard good things, once you get beyond the prices. One more place I%26#39;ve been to and can recommend is Longhorn Steakhouse. Yes, it%26#39;s a chain, but it has a lot to recommend it - good food and service, nice atmosphere. It%26#39;s tucked away in the Windsor Meade Shopping Center out on Monticello.

I%26#39;ve never been disappointed at Aberdeen Barn or Opus 9, but Opus 9 is at least twice as expensive (Aberdeen Barn is not cheap!). Aberdeen Barn is great for a steakhouse feel, while Opus 9 is more contemporary and upscale.
We actually prefer the Aberdeen Barn over Opus9. Not because it is less expensive; but, because we found the food to be better. Opus9 aspires to be a Morton%26#39;s or Ruth%26#39;s Chris; but, falls short.
Enjoy the golf and time together!
