For those with experience--which is the best: Cedars, The Aldrich, Alice Person, or Inn at 802?
Thanks!
Narrowing down B and B choice
Hi FarmerTed,
The four b%26amp;b%26#39;s you listed are all so different.
What exactly are you looking for in a B%26amp;B?
Are there children involved? Do you want to visit a place that accepts children? Is it a romantic escape? do you want a smaller home with the owners living on the premises? do you want a sit down breakfast or buffet?
If you can narrow it down, I think we might be able to help you better.
Narrowing down B and B choice
Thanks for your response! It is a mother-daughter trip. Mom is early 60s and I am early 30s. We are both in good shape and plan to do lots of walking and biking during our stay. We plan to do CW, Jamestown, and Yorktown. We will be there for 4 days, 5 nights. June 10 to 15th.
Also, I would say we would not want a buffet. We do like the idea of a smaller B and B with the owners on site.
hi farmerted,
Well, you will basically be within walking distance from any of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s you mentioned. the Cedars is a buffet breakfast and larger than the others, the Aldrich house is smaller as well as the alice person house. Alice Person house is run by a very sweet woman and is located on richmond road ( kind of busy, commercial street here).
Aldrich house is run by a sweet couple and they take children. The Inn at 802 is on Jamestown Road and the owners live on premises.
I guess you have 3 B%26amp;B%26#39;s that are pretty much the same. I am not sure which I would pick..maybe someone has stayed in one of these and could comment more. I think you will be fine in any of these 3. There are quite a few in Williamsburg. Narrowing them to 3 probably was not easy.
Call them and talk to the innkeeper and then decide.
Have not stayed in these b%26amp;bs. However, we have stayed in many elsewhere and I offer these ideas if you haven%26#39;t explored them already.
Have you read the reviews? They are real people too. And some very recent reviews. Click on the ';Hotels %26amp; Accommodations'; option here and when they come up click above them on the tab marked B%26amp;Bs. There are so many in Williamsburg.
You can read to see if they suit you. Someone said a breakfast so big you didn%26#39;t need lunch...could be handy. Another said the owner provided shuttle service when the guests didn%26#39;t have a car; another said it was a great mom%26#39;s getaway.
For Aldrich, one said it was convenient but loud and another said it was their home away from home. A matter of personal choice.
Wow, Cedars got 148 reviews. It%26#39;s ranked #3.
802 - 11 reviews ranked #7.
etc. Although, rankings can be relative.
You can also check the reviewer if you%26#39;re curious. It can be helpful in furthering understanding their outlook and therefore how you would like a place as well. You check the reviewer%26#39;s other reviews and any posts by clicking on the reviewer%26#39;s name which is atop their review in blue with their city and state.
To further help, Cedars and Aldrich have options where you can check availability online before getting excited about a particular room or dates.
Have you narrowed your choice to these three after being aware of their accommodations for you...for example, whether they offer a twin bed room or a suite or king bed rooms...whatever your choice might be?
Let us know what you discovered met your needs and why.
I haven%26#39;t seen the inside of 802 but I know the owners and can tell you that they are a very nice and fun couple.
