Will be in Richmond for one night next Friday night, staying at the Omni, I understand that area, Shockoe Slip? is pretty cool. Looking for clubs, enjoy live rock music, also bar/restaurants, maybe a pub type atmosphere, nothing fancy, with good food. Also need late night eating suggestions and of course, breakfast and/or brunch suggestions depending on how late we rise!!! Looking to have a good time, all suggestions welcome!! ps. Our group is in their mid to late thirties, definitely not looking for the dance club scene! we are just aging rockers!

Many of the places to eat in the Slip are somewhat over-rated. For Italian I do like La Grotta, and the beer at Richbrau is good, but the food is ordinary. Europa is good for tapas, just past 14th St.
You may want to walk a little further from the Slip, down to Shockoe Bottom. You%26#39;ve got a lot better choices in that area.
Check out Lulu%26#39;s for either dinner or Sunday brunch (but you%26#39;d better get a reservation--it%26#39;s hot right now):

Across the farmer%26#39;s market from Julep%26#39;s is Havana 59, if you like Cuban:

I also like Zuppa:

Also in the area, a little more upscale, is Julep%26#39;s:

For late night munchies, check out River City Diner:

There are plenty of bars in this area, and between here and the Slip. Check out what%26#39;s going on at Toad%26#39;s Place, but it%26#39;ll be hit or miss for your age group:

There are plenty of other bars and clubs in that vicinity. If you get tired of the Slip and Bottom, (it might overall be a little young for you, but different places each attract their own crowd) you could always walk up the hill the other way to Capital Ale House at 6th and Main, which usually attracts a little older crowd:

Let us know how it worked out. Hope you have a good time!

Millie%26#39;s Diner on the 24th block of Main Street gets rave reviews round here for brunch but it does get very busy. Despite living within two blocks of it for a year I never actually went...
Sine%26#39;s (Irish themed, sort of) on 13th block of East Cary Street is quite good and we often walk there for beers after work. Good if you are after a pub type restaurant. Their Irish nachos (potatoes!) are really good after a pint or two.
I%26#39;ve never really got into La Grotta, never thought it was up to much although it is popular with posters on here and at work.
thanks all for the suggestions! Hopefully we make it to Richmond tomorrow with the bad weather on it%26#39;s way! Only coming from Northern Virginia, cross your fingers!
