Hi, all:
I%26#39;m traveling from Richmond to Charlottesville on Thursday evening, and my only concern is in regards to traffic.
I land at 3:24 at Byrd Field in Richmond. After checking in at Budget, getting a rental, etc., it could be 4 PM... Including rush-hour traffic, what is reasonable to expect for an ETA in Charlottesville?
Thanks very much for your time!
Richmond to Charlottesville Traffic
Hopefully someone from the Richmond area will answer but until then, based on my limited experience driving in Richmond, it normally takes under 1 1/2 hrs from the airport to Charlottesville. I would add another 30 min due to rush hour traffic for a total drivetime of under 2 hr. Good Luck.
Richmond to Charlottesville Traffic
I agree, it shouldn%26#39;t take more than around 2 hours, maybe less, from airport to Charlottesville.
I wonder if it makes a difference if jytrav takes I-95 or 295 around Richmond. jytrav, once you get past Short Pump and into Goochland County, the traffic should die down rather quickly. But you%26#39;re from Boston - it might feel like NO traffic.
I concur with the last post - you%26#39;re from Boston, this will feel like NO traffic. I will tell you that you will want to take Airport Drive (the road leading from the airport NORTH, to I-295 North (signs will state to Washington/Charlottesville). DO NOT take I-64 West from the airport as you WILL hit downtown Richmond traffic which can cause a delay of up to 40 mins.
Take I-295, it is 65+ mph all the way until you exit to I-64 West. There is some construction around the interchange at I-295 %26amp; I64, but nothing that would delay you any longer than 10-20 mins.
I bet you%26#39;ll get to C%26#39;ville in under 2 hrs. from the airport.
