OK, I have just about finalized all of my plans for my trip in August. We are spending 2 nights in Williamsburg. We have now decided that we would like to visit the Great Dismal Swamp. And then we are heading up to Chincoteague for 4 nights and then 2 nights in Cape Charles before flying out of Norfolk.
My main question is after visiting the Great Dismal Swamp, would Virginia Beach be a good stopping point for the evening? Suffolk does not sound all that interesting and I don%26#39;t think we want to drive back to Williamsburg or up to Chincoteague after the swamp. It sounds like traffic in the area can be pretty brutal.
Thanks for your help on this or any other suggestions you have about the itinerary.
Need help with itinerary
After visiting the Swamp, you can stay in Va Beach, consider Shore Dr or Northampton Blvd because it%26#39;s on the way to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel or stay in Chesapeake in the Battlefield Blvd/Greenbrier area because it%26#39;s not too far from GDS and also convenient to I64 for going to CBBT and on to Chincoteague. Suffolk would not be a convenient place to stop based on your itinerary, and you definately don%26#39;t want to drive back to W%26#39;burg. Enjoy your trip and kudos for including GDS in your plans, it%26#39;s not heavily visited but quite unique (pack mosquito repellent for entire trip).
