I don%26#39;t know Richmond at all, so would be really grateful to know whether the Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum (201 Arboretum Place, off Midlothian Turnpike/Rte 60) is in a pleasant/safe part of town. It%26#39;s only for a short stay, but I%26#39;d still welcome an idea of what to expect (or, if necessary, advice to find somewhere else)!
Is the Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum in a good area?
Yes, this hotel is in a safe area of Richmond, you will actually be in Chesterfield County, a suburb of Richmond, and very near the Rt.76 Powhite Expressway which is a convenient way to get downtown should you need to. You%26#39;ll be fine at this hotel, however, everything that you would need/want to see (eateries, mall, etc. will be WESTbound on Rt. 60 Midlothian Tnpk.) Enjoy your time here!

I would consider it a safe area, consisting mostly of chain restaurants and strip shopping malls. You will need a car to see anything outside your immediate vicinity.
Thanks to both of you for your reassurance - much appreciated.
I agree with the two previous posts. The area is safe. And the comment about needing a car is correct, too. There are lots of restaurants, strip malls, and even a full-sized mall (Chesterfield Town Center) nearby -- but most of these places are not within walking distance.
Enjoy your visit to Richmond!
