hotel help

We are renting a house on the ocean in Sandbridge from July 5-12...we want to head down to the area to be there on July 3rd. We wanted to stay at a motel somewhere in the vicinity that will have fireworks for the 4th of July. We don%26#39;t need to be directly on the water and have been thinking Chesapeake,Norfolk,or any ideas?? We are not really familiar with the area other than Va Beach so wondered if anyone could help us decide. We want a clean motel and in an area that we can get to the fireworks and park or walk. Thanks

Several fireworks celebrations planned in the area (www.visithamptonroads.com, events, 4th of July) but you may want either the Va Beach oceanfront...stay anywhere at the oceanfront and you can walk to see the fireworks as well as enjoy the boardwalk and music at several stages along the way...OR.... downtown Norfolk. The fireworks are over the waterfront so they can be seen from either side, Norfolk or Portsmouth. The US Army Continental Band is scheduled to play. Again, it would be easier to stay w/in walking distance simply to not have to drive but there is plenty of parking. You mentioned Chesapeake, lots of motels in Greenbrier/Battlefield Blvd. area, availability and price generally better during holidays than beach or Norfolk, and from there it is between 20-30 min to downtown or the oceanfront. Enjoy the 4th.

Check beachstreetusa.com for a description of the Stars and Stripes Explosion, an all-day event at the beach on the 4th.
