Easy travel from Virgina Beach to Williamsburg?

Hi there. I was planning a three day stopover in June in the Williamsburg area so we could do Busch Gardens (one day) and Jamestown or Colonial Willamsburg on another.

However, I%26#39;ve just spotted Virginia Beach, which looks like it might be a nice(r) place to stay for our three nights.

If we stayed in VB, would it be easy travelling to Busch and Williamsburg? And would anybody recommend we stayed in Virginia Beach, as an alternative to Williamsburg town itself?

Many thanks for any help.

I would recommend you stay in Virginia Beach only if you don%26#39;t want to visit Williamsburg. Under good traffic conditions, it%26#39;s about an hour drive, but with normal traffic conditions, it can easily an hour and a half to two hours or more, each way. If you want to go to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, stay in or near Williamsburg. Newport News is a viable alternative, but it%26#39;s much more convenient to stay in Williamsburg.

Zoey is right; our traffic during the summer (because of a tunnel and congestion) is brutal. You don%26#39;t want to spend your vacation in hot, bumper to bumper traffic. Consider spending 2 nights in Va Beach and the 3rd in Williamsburg (or some such configuration), that way you can experience both areas in comfort. Enjoy you visit to Virginia.

I agree with the other posters....our traffic is insane and what would be a 40 minute drive can easily spiral into 2+ hours...

There are many great hotels in the city of Williamsburg that cover the gamut of price and convenience...you can stay in a basic 2 star, or spend the night in one of Colonial Williamsburg%26#39;s Historic Houses (recent history to a Brit, but old for us!). We love the Williamsburg area, and routinely do weekend stays there.

Enjoy your visit!
