Directions from NY to VA Beach using the Chesapeake tunnel

I have heard it is easier and faster to travel by way of the tunnel but I can not find directions on-line. Can anyone that has travelled this route give me directions? Leaving Long Island and Arriving Virginia Beach. Thank you.

thanks, i guess i just did not understand the on-line map at first but i get it now.

I am originally from LI and still have my oldest brother and sister there, so I make this drive much TOO often :) The easiest, quickest way we have found is : crossover Verrazano Bridge, take the Outerbridge crossing, South on Jersey Turnpike all the way to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. After you cross Delaware Bridge, there are 2 routes that meet a few times - Rt 13 and Rt 1. Rt 1 is a toll road (1-2 dollars a few times) but it saves quite a bit of time. It will meet back up with Rt 13, just follow all the ';bird'; signs to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Don%26#39;t worry if you end up on 113 - it will still meet up with 13!! Just follow all the signs for Norfolk until the bridge. From Centereach, LI - we have made the trip in about 8 - 8 1/2 hours many times.

Verrazano - Outerbridge - NJ Turnpike - Delaware Memorial Bridge - RT 1 - Rt 13 - Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel - and then your local directions to whereever you are going in Va Beach.
