Colonial Williamsburg tickets ??

How do the tickets for CW work? - Do you need a ticket to walk around the area or do you only need tickets to go into the buildings or take tours

What ticket offers the best value for a 1 day visit?

I plan on taking bikes - is this a good idea for getting around CW? Are bikes allowed?

I have been to Williamsburg many times but have never done the CW stuff - Always have spent the time at the amusement parks. Thought I would try something different this time.

Thanks

You can walks through the streets of the Historic area at no charge but to go into the historic buildings, houses, trade shops and museums, as well as all daytime programming, an admission pass is needed. For one day, the Palace/Capital City pass would give you access to all sites ($43 per adult, $21 for youth, 6-17). Bikes are allowed in the historic area but when the streets are crowded it is difficult manuevering, especially during Rev City.

Since you are from MD and come to Williamsburg throughout the year for amusement parks, you may want to consider a yearly pass to CW. For $59 per adult and $29 for youth, 6-17, you can purchase a Freedom Pass which gives a 50% discount on evening programs in addition to admission to everything for an entire year. Much more economical than paying daily admissions if you come back this year. Or the Bounce Pass is good for 7 days ($124/102) and includes CW, BG,a d Water Country. If you want to add Jamestown and Yorktown to the mix, get the Flex Pass (7-4-1) for $170/131.

Thanks for the info - It%26#39;s greatly appeciated.

We will be at CW for the week of April 6th. We%26#39;ve seen some 2-day tickets to CW for $49 and $24 (kids). Then the combo Yorktown/Jamestown ticket would be like $14/7 for a day. For the historic triangle ticket (5 days) it would total $290 for the five of us (including an 18 year old counted as an adult) and figured that would be our best deal. About $40 more than the piecemeal ticket but then we have flexible days. I think we%26#39;ll go for that.

If you plan to attend evening programs at CW, an annual pass (with 50% discount on evening programs) may be a better deal than the historic triangle ticket. Also, tickets to the National Park Service sites (Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield) are required only for adults and are good for 7 days. We skipped Yorktown on our recent visit but the annual CW pass and individual tickets to Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement (1 day, which was plenty) were a better deal for us.
