In researching perople%26#39;s comments, it seems that lately some areas of this resort leave much to be desired in the cleanliness department. If you have stayed here within the last 18 months, would you please be kind enough to share the area/building you were assigned to and its general cleanliness. My plan is to contact the resort to request a specific area once I know what area(s) are up to standard! I am beginning to panic a bit as we traded timeshare points to stay here, and that is a final transaction, of course. MY mother will join us on this trip and I would prefer things to go VERY smoothly!!!
TIA
berta

I have the very same concerns, so your responses would help two of us! We will be there in May.
Recommendations re: marriot's ford's colony
I was there President%26#39;s week in 2007. Although I don%26#39;t remember the building, but it was the second on the left (if I recall correctly) past the clubhouse. We had a gorgeous two bedroom on the third floor. It was spacious, beautifully decorated, wonderful beds, and immaculately clean. Sorry I can%26#39;t remember the building #.
Although I can not speak with any knowledge to the ';Horror Stories'; given by other people at this location, I can speak to some of the post%26#39;s. Let me make it clear that I DO NOT work for Marriott or any Marriott owned and/or controlled company. Last year my wife and I vacationed at Barony Beach Club Resort at Hilton Head, SC. Not unlike your fears, we had read many reviews from visitors to that MVRI property with fears of our own. We were very pleased with both the facility, staff and cleanliness of the rooms. Maid serveice (trash removal, beds made and dishes placed in the D/W) each day.
We have reservations in July at Ford Colony, but as with all reviews by travelers around the globe one constant remains true. You can not please everyone regardless of you intentions. This holds true with respect to any business in the world. The shame is we hear from those who have had ';a bad experience'; far more than those whom received what they expected. I hope your time at Ford Colony is up to your expectations. Take Care %26amp; Safe Travels.
I am traveling to Marriott Manor Club later this week and I too am concerned with what has been posted here and on other sites. It would be terrible to travel all that way and be disappointed. Any specific buildings to request would be greatly appreciated. I do know that there are two sections, Marriott Manor Club, which is the original section and Marriott Sequel, which is only a few years old. Any restaurant suggestions would also be great.
i can%26#39;t speak to specific rooms, as a resident I haven%26#39;t checked out the individual options. The property is in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the area, enjoys great natural beauty and is in an OK location.
I was at an event this afternoon, one of my co-workers at the auction has visiotrs in town for a wedding Saturday and some of them were staying at the Marriott. They liked it, enjoyed the golf course and were quite pleased.
Unless the interiors are far below the exterior I wouldn;t hesitate to stay here - ask when you check in about the difference in rooms.
Berta, I can make a suggestion, but this may work only if you are a Marriott Vacation Club owner. If not, then you may want to contact the hotel directly. I will be staying there in August and after reading some of these reviews, I contacted my vacation advisor (through Marriott Vacation Club) and explained that the resort has received mixed reviews and could she please see that we get a renovated room. She contacted the hotel and put in the request. We%26#39;ll see what we end up with, but if you%26#39;re an owner, I would suggest contacting your advisor.
Even if you are not an owner,I would still request a recently renovated room (great idea BertaH). I am a timeshare owner (although not Marriott) and anytime I make a reservation into a timeshare resort, I always request a recently renovated room and usually get one! Never hurts to ask.
I recently wrote a review with photos. Check it out. It is a spacious, gracious lovely, lovely place but....success is in the details.
I have stayed in this property and found it to be lovely. We had a 2BR unit on the 3rd floor. We were there to celebrate at 50th b%26#39;day of a person named JOE, and had lots of HB Joe type of things around. (decorations, etc) The maid very kindly left us a note wishing JOE s happy birthday, and told us not to worry about all the decor -she would get it when she cleaned the unit when we left. Very nice and we would stay here again at any time. Depending on the time of the year, they offer great rates, too.
As anyone can have a problem at any time - the fastest way to get it resolved is to call downstairs and ask to speak to the manager on duty, and courteously explain your problem. When I have done so at any Marriott property anywhere, my issue is always taken care of quickly and courteously.
Hi Berta-We are Marriott at owners and have traded into ford%26#39;s colony...we will be there this Sunday for a week...I will try to post and give you an update! I have to say, I have never had a problem with any marriott properties...even ones that people complained about...I think it is a question of seeing the glass half full or half empty. I am a half full kinda gal!
