Pet Friendly Parks in Richmond

Hello. As prev. posts stated, I have a dog, traveling to Richmond in April. Are there any parks in Richmond, near the James River that you can take you dog to? Also, is Belle Isle Park near the James, and if so where?

I use to live in Richmond Virginia in 1992. I miss it so much. I know the area, but a little rusty still.

Thanks

PS. Need a pet friendly hotel as well that is clean and in a safe area.

You can get to Belle Isle Park by parking at the Tredegar Iron Works Bg near Va Power office bg (downtown area) on S. 5th St. From there, you walk across the pedestrian bridge which is built under a vehicle bridge. The island is on the James. Also, if you are interested, nearby you can walk the flood wall. More info on Richmond parks at www.ci.richmond.va.us/parks/james.aspx

Hope you both enjoy the park.

Thank you so much for that information. I really appreciate it. It sounds like a great place to go. Also, the Flood Wall sounds very interesting.

Thanks for the reply. That really helps me out alot!!

You%26#39;re welcome, you%26#39;re welcome, you%26#39;re welcome.....

For pet friendly hotels, here are 2 things I learned from other forum posters; petswelcome.com allows you to search any city for pet friendly lodging and if you type ';pet friendly hotels'; (or any other search requirement) in the blank box at the beginning of the forum listing, previous posts will appear on that related subject. Good luck.

I will go on that link. I als found BringFido.com. That has some good hotels as well.

I appreciate all of your help. My computer is so slow and I didn%26#39;t think it was posting my message. That is why it posted 3 times! Definately need to get rid of dial up!!

Thanks again. Trip Advisor is so helpful and resourceful.

There is a dog park in Richmond at Byrd Park, called Dogwood Dell. The rest of the park is off limits to dogs, though. The trails at James River Park are dog friendly, as is Bryan Park, on the northside near Ginter Park and the Botanic Garden.

Thanks Luxuria for your reply. I know exactly where they are and I will definately check them out.

22Tango, thanks for your reply on the Holiday Inn Express. Do you know if there are any big stores around there??

Thanks again to all who replied to my posts.

If you go one block to W Broad St, there are %26#39;big stores%26#39; in both directions. If you head west (left turn from that Holiday Inn Express) on Broad and go that way for a few miles, you%26#39;ll hit Short Pump Mall, which is the largest mall in this area. If you haven%26#39;t been in this area since 1992, you%26#39;re not going to recognize Short Pump.
