Help w/Family Itinerary -Wlmsbrg/Jmstwn/Monticello/BlueRidge

We would like to fly from Colorado to the east coast in the fall (October?), rent a camper when we get there, then enjoy the sights. Kids are 13 %26amp; 15 and into anything and everything. We are not doing Busch Gardens and I imagine not VA beach either.

Thoughts include Monticello, Jamestown, Williamsburg, Blue Ridge Mountains, just from memories as a kid.

Is it impossible to imagine squeezing in any of DC or Boston if we have about 9 days?

Any recommendations on whether we should just rent a car vs. a camper (Mini-Winni type thing). We would be using camper for actual camping if we do this option.

Thanks for any input on what%26#39;s valuable to make time for and what%26#39;s not - and if anyone can tell me when the trees actually change colors!

Any input at all on this type of trip is greatly appreciated!!!!

Monticello and Charlottesville--1 day

Jamestown -- 1/2 day (or maybe 1 day if you go to both Historic Jamestown and Jamestown Settlement)

Williamsburg--2 days since you aren%26#39;t doing Busch Gardens

Blue Ridge Mountains--???

I think you would certainly have time to go to Washington, D.C. as it is only 3 hours from Williamsburg (but don%26#39;t try to make it a day trip--too much to see and do).

I can%26#39;t advise on car/camper as I have never driven a camper. But know that you will want to use public transportation in D.C. (Metro) as parking is both difficult and costly. If you could find a place to camp with your camper anywhere around D.C. (I have no idea about that), you%26#39;d need to drive to a Metro parking lot early in the morning and then take Metro into town. If you stay in a hotel, you could choose to stay in D.C. or in the suburbs in a hotel near a Metro station (e.g. Rosslyn or Crystal City, both of which are in Arlington, VA)

Hope this helps with your vacation decisions.

The Cherry Hill Park (RV) is very close to DC and has shuttle service, check their website for additional information. It might be a solution if you have a camper while in the DC area. Good luck.
