Rainy day activities in Williamsburg

Our family, three girl aged 12, 10 and 7 are looking for an idea of something to do in or near Williamsburg tomorrow. The forecast is rainy in the morning, then thunderstorms in the afternoon. The things we had planned (Colonial Williamsburg or Jamestown Settlement) seem to involve being outdoors. Any ideas for us. We wouldn%26#39;t even mind driving 30-60 minutes for something indoors.

Rainy day activities in Williamsburg

Here are 2 ideas, both about 30 minutes from W%26#39;burg, in Newport News:

The Va Living Museum www.thevlm.org

Mariners Museum www.mariner.org

Both great, interesting, museums...check out the web sites to see if one is a good match for you and the girls.

Try to keep off I64 during rush hours, traffic can be quite unpleasant. The weather forecast looks much better for Wednesday. Good luck.

The Museums of Colonial Williamsburg have some good exhibits, including some aimed at children. Down on the Farm is delightful! Likewise, Jamestown Settlement has some good exhibits in their museum.

Yankee Candle, with their winter room, can be fun to visit. There%26#39;s a Ripley%26#39;s Believe It or Not in Williamsburg; haven%26#39;t been, but it would be something indoors.

Hope you decided to just go to CW and chance the weather. We had an absolutely awesome day, almost a little too warm even. And the only rain we had came while we were inside the Capitol! We%26#39;ve decided that tomorrow it will probably rain since it%26#39;s only a 20% chance!

Funny how sometimes the forecast has little relationship to the actual weather....

We did end up staying in Williamsburg and spending the day at Colonial Williamsburg. We had a great time! (The weather forecast turned out to be completely wrong every day of our vacation - so much for planning ahead.) Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Maybe they%26#39;ll be helpful to someone else who is there on a day it actually does rain.
