TownePlace Suites by marriott in virginia beach va

Has anyone stayed there? We need to use Marriott points and this is the right city. Thanks so much.

I have not stayed there, but I can tell you that it is not in the resort area, if that is a consideration. It%26#39;s in an industrial-business corridor, about a 15-minute drive on the interstate to the oceanfront.

How about the new Marriott Springhill suites on the oceanfront?

Key to the City include Palace?

Does the Key to the City ticket (offered for $35.10 for adult) include a tour of the Palace?

Thanks.

Key to the City include Palace?

The $35.10 is through AAA.

Key to the City include Palace?

Yes, it does. For more information about the various tickets and what%26#39;s included, go here: www.cwf.org/visit/planYourVisit/ticketPlans/

ALL CW tickets include ALL buildings, except the Capital City Pass which excludes the Palace.

  • Eats / Recreation

    Hello All,

I%26#39;m heading to VA Beach tonight and will stay all weekend. Where would suggest I eat? Where would YOU eat? Saturday%26#39;s weather is going to be a little ugly any indoor suggestions. And finally where would you recommend for a message.

I can%26#39;t wait for your replies

    Thanks

    Selkie

PS: I have a (paid for) room in the Tropicana is it really as bad as people say it is?

Here%26#39;s my rainy day plan Go List:

    tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i2217-Rainy_Day…

Tautogs is great for lunch or dinner. I have not tried the sister breakfast/lunch place called Doc Taylor%26#39;s. My husband%26#39;s boss (who prides himself on being all that) swears by breakfast at the Belvedere Hotel%26#39;s little coffee shop but that%26#39;s another place I haven%26#39;t tried. You might also check out Big Sam%26#39;s at Rudee Inlet. Pocohantas Pancakes is very good too.

I would go to eat at Rockafeller%26#39;s one night and Il Giardino the other. They are my two favorites. As for indoor activities, I%26#39;d go shopping up in the Hilltop area and/or Lynnhaven Mall.

The A.R.E (Association for Research and Enlightenment...Edgar Cayce) is located at about 72nd %26amp; Pacific, they has a spa and offer various services, massage (or message, if you prefer), reflexiology, castor oil treatments etc., see edgarcayce.org/health/health_services_index.… fro more information. You do not have to be a member of ARE for spa service, if you go check out the main bldg also that has a gift shop, library, and offers various seminars....interesting place. Enjoy.

Inn at Little Washington,Monticello & Keswick Hall

    Hello,

Will be traveling from PA, next week April 6-11.

Wanted to stay at Inn at little washington, forever, so thought we might stay 2 nights there, then continue onto Keswick hall, outside of Charlottesville. Always wanted to see Monticello in the spring.

Questions are - has anyone enjoyed any of these hotels? How is spring coming along in Va. In Pa it has been cool %26amp; rainy, hardly any green at all.

Thought driving down to meet spring would be a fun getaway!

    Thoughts appreciated.....

    Absolutely fabulous choices.

Spring has sprung in Central Va. The cherry blossoms and flowering pear and flowering almond and apple blossoms are in absolute full bloom or nearly spent for those in the sun all day. Later daffodils are still going strong, the middle ones already gone. Periwinkle is blooming, grass has been cut by the industrious for a few weeks now. But the azaleas and many other spring flowering things have yet to show.

April 19th begins the world renowned Historic Garden Week in Virginia where people come from all over to see our historic properties, private historic homes and gardens. Charlottesville has so much to offer it has been given four days out of the week. Many cities all over Va. are on the tour with their own days. So you will be here just before, when everything is looking at its best for the special event.

    Thank you for your reply!

    Hotel suggestions

We will be travelling to Myrtle Beach in mid April and plan on stopping overnight in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

We are a family of 6 - 2 adults 4 children and would like to all stay in the same room. I have yet to find a hotel with a room to accommodate all of us .. the other option is to have 2 rooms but that will be a last resort.

    Any advice ??? Thanks

    Hotel suggestions

Did you try Towne Place Suites by Marriott? How about WyteStone Suites? I know both can accommodate your family in one room - unless there is no availability, of course.

You might extend your search into nearby Stafford.

  • touring cw buildings in june

Our family will be visiting Williamsburg for the first time June 15-22. Just wondering about how long it takes to tour buildings like the palace and capitol? We will be arriving in the area around 1pm...(staying at Kingsmill Reort)..Hoping to stop by CW to pick up tickets, see the film at the visitors center and get oriented. Does that sound like a good plan or should we start out there when it opens the next day? Thanks in advance!!

That sounds like a very good plan! If you have time, once you%26#39;ve gotten your tickets, take the short walk to the Great Hopes Plantation site. As you walk across the bridge from the Visitors Center to Great Hopes, you will see plaques embedded which take you back in time from the 21st century to the 18th century.

You may want to check with the concierge at Kingsmill about discounts on CW passes and their shuttle that goes to the historic area. If they do not offer a discount or it is too late for the shuttle when you arrive, you can go to any CW ticket office and purchase tickets and start your CW visit right then. You may arrive in time for Rev City that day. The historic buildings are open until 5:00 p.m., the museums until 7:00 p.m. Since you have not been here before, you may not realize how extensive CW is; you don%26#39;t want to waste a half day of your visit.

When you purchase your tickets, make sure you get a copy of the Visitors Guide for that week. In addition to a map of the historic area, there is a listing of days the buildings and trade sites are open. It also lists various programs available each day. Some have a cost; but, many are included in the price of your ticket. However, you MUST make reservations as space is sometimes limited. You will find a variety of programs that will be of interest to you and your family.

If Dean Shostak offers his Crystal Concert( or any of his other musical programs) I strongly urge you to see them.

Also, if you plan on having dinner at Kings Arms or Cristiana Campbell%26#39;s Taverns, reserve early.

I hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy Williamsburg as much as my husband and I do.

THANK YOU everyone...for taking time to respond! This forum is so valuable...as part of my fun is planning!

    Verizon Wireless American Music Festival

I came across a listing for the music festival by accident and it sounds like it might be a great time. Does anyone know who any of the acts are that will be playing there ? It says full scheduled released in June on the website.

Is this a place we could visit as a family ? If we wanted to stay down in the area near the festival would this be recommended and if so can you suggest places to stay where we can just park the car and stay put for the weekend ?

Any info on what this event is like would be appreciated.

    thanks!

    Verizon Wireless American Music Festival

This is the one in August...Labor Day? There are lots of bands on the several stages. Here is an article on it, listing stages:

    beachstreetusa.com/beachstreetusa_web_site_0…

In %26#39;06 there were KC and the Sunshine Band, Kool and the Gang, Gloria Gaynor, Kansas, Joan Jett, and lots more.

The Rock n Roll Half Marathon is that weekend too.

There are lots of hotels near all the stages. Springhill Suites, Ramada on the Beach, Turtle Cay and tons more in the sort of quieter southern end are near the smaller stage and also the enormous one on the sand. Big wide beach there too.

    Verizon Wireless American Music Festival

The Va Beach resort area is very family friendly. Check out the ';Know before you go'; catagory in the left column, then look for ';getting around';, that article will give you the geographic layout so you can tell which hotels are oceanfront or on nearby streets. Also check hotel reviews. If possible, try to stay at the resort strip so you can walk to all activities. There is a 3 mile boardwalk and the music stages are located all along it. If you stay away from the beach and drive in for the music festival there are several city parking lots within walking distance but fill up fast for special events. Alternate parking is often available at the convention center during festivals about 1-2 mi and from there you can take a shuttle to the oceanfront. It%26#39;s great fun, keep an eye on the website explorer gave you for the artists and make your reservations as soon as you can. Enjoy the area.
